DIY Galaxy Shorts!

Here is a step-by-step guide on how I made my own Galaxy Shorts:

What you'll need:
  • a pair of black denim shorts
(I actually made my own by cutting up a pair of black jeans)
  • fabric paint
(try to stick to a colour scheme - find an image of a galaxy or nebula that you like)
  • small sponges
  • small paintbrush
  • newspaper

These are the fabric paints I used, which were about £3 each from a local craft shop. I went for metallic shades so that my shorts would sparkle.

Firstly, put the paint on a plate and dip the sponge into and then dab off any excess on some kitchen paper, less is more! (you can always add more paint but you can never go back once you've applied too much).

I then applied the purple in outlining motions around areas of blue:

Once the blue and purple paint has dried, apply the white or silver paint in cloud shapes for the galaxies. Try to make circular or oval shapes, fading out the edges.

Then dip the paintbrush into white or silver fabric paint and dot it around the galaxies for stars and planets. Try to make little clusters.

Leave to dry for 15-20 minutes and that's it!
