'Pass The Love On' This Christmas

As Christmas time draws closer and I begin to work my way through my shopping and to-do lists, I'm reminded to stop and appreciate the true meaning of the festive season... spending time with loved ones.

Growing up in a very close family (literally... we all live within a 2-mile radius of each other), moving away from our little village to the city was a hard adjustment for us all. We make sure we're in contact every day and still video call one another with weekly updates. But one thing I'm especially excited for is the drive home on Christmas Eve, car boot full of gifts, and Chris Rea blasting on repeat.
The team at  Thorntons asked me to show how I like to 'Pass The Love On' to my family, and as it has been a long established brand under my family's Christmas tree every year since I can remember, the Thorntons Continental selection is equally thoughtful as it is delicious.

The Continental Journey campaign saw two families reunited via a sensory VR experience – watch the YouTube video here to find out what happened!

Being around loved ones is so important at this time of year, which is why I’m showing how I ‘Pass The Love On’ by gifting a box of Thorntons Continental to my Grandparents.
A donation of sales of all products in the Thorntons Continental selection range will do directly to SSAFA - a charity that supports our servicemen and servicewomen, veterans and their families.

How will you 'Pass The Love On' this Christmas?

Gift ideas for Him & Her

If you've still got some last minute presents to buy and don't know where to even start - or you still have that one difficult person who already has everything and you're in some desperate need of inspiration... Look no further - I've created a list of gift ideas from stocking fillers to something a bit more special.

For her:
The Stocking can be filled with some pretty easy items: chocolate & a satsuma, right? (I mean, that's my Christmas morning breakfast sorted). But if you want to pop something different in there Lush have some pretty gorgeous bath bombs & bubble bars to use whilst your mum is cooking Christmas dinner, or how about these Pick a Stick Charades to enjoy whilst you're all gathered around the table? For an extra special surprise this gorgeous green Sezane jewellery pouch is sure to dazzle (especially if you were to pop something inside!).

There's something just so wonderful about opening a book on Christmas morning, The Little Book of Hygge is such a cosy read during winter - why not add to their hyggeligt experience by including a tin of Leaf Nutcracker loose leaf tea (the most festive flavour brew going!), a winter scented candle - H&M Pine Forest is so pretty and smells gorgeous, and a bar of Oliver Bonas caramel & pink salt chocolate.

Make-up / beauty products can be incredibly subjective, from scents, to textures, to colour palettes - you know what works for you and what doesn't. But this time of year there's such a great offering of gift sets in stores that it's super easy to choose something that your bestie/sister/mum/auntie/gran will love, and it's always nice to wear your new perfume or nail polish on Christmas Day after you've got changed into your new frock. The Nails inc Seeing Stars nail polish duo is definitely doing the rounds on my present list this year, and Soap & Glory always do the cutest packaging! The Happy Holid-eyes set can even be hung on the Christmas tree as a little decoration. For an extra special gift, Jo Malone perfume is always a winner and their incredible scent library has something for everyone.

And if in doubt, receiving a new record/cd has been a long tradition in our family - and it's a lovely opportunity to introduce someone to a new artist/band you think they'd love. Why not give them something they can play throughout the festivities? A Very She & Him Christmas is the dreamiest soundtrack to play whilst you're getting ready for the party or during Christmas Dinner.

For Him:
Let's start with an easy one, and something I know for a fact 99% of the population would appreciate because these are indeed my own and they live on my head all day every day. The Marshall MID ANC Headphones. I honestly cannot remember a time pre-ANC (active noice cancellation) - they're the best gift I've ever bought myself and I'm sure most would agree.

And what better present to compliment his new headphones that a brand new record? (Depending how fancy his sound system is, or else a CD will do just fine). One of the best Christmas albums this year is by far Robbie Williams' The Christmas Present. In fact, I have it spinning as I'm writing this very gift guide!

Another sure win is a classic knitted jumper - this one (and again, from my own personal collection) is actually from the men's collection at Uniqlo and I can honestly say it is the perfect navy jumper that I've been looking for all my life! They have a really great cashmere offering too...

For the book lovers I always like to give travel/city guides as gifts, even if they don't have a trip planned! It's always nice to inspire a little wanderlust and may encourage them to add somewhere to their bucket-list of places to visit in 2020.

Do you know a Clark Griswold in your life? I do. My Grandad. It's our favourite Christmas film and we've watched it every year together since before I can remember. He's always wanted the moose shaped glasses that they drink eggnog out of and I've finally tracked them down for him.

For the guys that are impossible to buy for, may I suggest 2 items that men hardly ever buy for themselves but are guaranteed to use every day... 1. hand balm and 2. candles (yes candles! Despite common belief, boys like nice smelling things too and this Wild Woods + Fir scented one is as close to a Christmas candle I could find that still holds a masculine fragrance).

And finally, the easy peasy stocking fillers... Oliver Bonas really have hit it out of the park with these ones. Firstly there's 100 Dog Jokes (which I actually bought as a gift and ended up keeping, and will 100% be getting them out at the dinner table), a gift set of 3 Spreadables to add a spot of Christmas spirit to their morning round of toast, and Gin & Tonic Milk Chocolate bar just in case they're too old for a Cadbury's selection box.

I hope these gift ideas were helpful and have somewhat reduced the stress on the lead up to the big day - happy shopping! x
